Grandfather, 10-year-old granddaughter stabbed while heading to school in LA
A shocking incident unfolded in Los Angeles as a 10-year-old girl and her grandfather were stabbed while on their way to school by a suspect who has been a menace in the neighborhood for years. The horrifying attack took place in Sunland around 7:40 a.m. on Friday, as the grandfather, in his 70s, and three children were inside a car preparing to go to school. The suspect approached the vehicle from behind and attempted to stab them.
Two of the children managed to escape from the car, but both the grandfather and the 10-year-old girl sustained stab wounds in the attack. They were quickly taken to a local hospital and are currently in stable condition, as confirmed by the LAPD.
The suspect, who is already known to the police, seized the vehicle after the assault and drove away. He later abandoned the car a few miles from the scene and is currently at large. Residents of the neighborhood revealed that the suspect, believed to be in his 30s, lives with his parents and has been causing fear among the locals for quite some time.
According to reports, the suspect has been homeless at times, occasionally returning home, living out of his car, and possibly struggling with mental health issues. Witnesses recounted that the incident began as an attempted carjacking, with some neighbors recalling a similar stabbing incident in the area several months ago.
The community is left shaken by this senseless act of violence, and authorities are working diligently to apprehend the suspect and ensure the safety of the residents. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and community safety in the face of such disturbing events.
