Los Angeles pimp is jailed for crimes against teen girls he ‘enslaved’
A despicable pimp known as a ‘modern-day enslaver’ has been handed a lengthy prison sentence for his heinous crimes. Derran Adkins, 26, has been sentenced to 28 years and eight months in jail for trafficking two teenage girls, aged 17 and 19, in the notorious Figueroa Corridor in Los Angeles, as confirmed by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office.
The authorities revealed that Adkins lured the 17-year-old girl through social media and forced her into commercial sex trafficking in November 2024. If the teenager tried to escape or refused to comply with his demands, she was subjected to physical assault. Shockingly, on one occasion, Adkins savagely mutilated her hand.
The 19-year-old victim worked as a sex worker between April 2024 and January 2025, under Adkins’ control. Any disobedience or attempt to leave resulted in brutal physical assaults, including being punched in the face, burned with a heated metal spoon, or whipped with a hanger.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman, who announced the sentencing of the violent sex trafficker, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome. He stated, “A violent sex trafficker and modern-day enslaver has been taken off the streets as a result of the tireless work of our prosecutors and the Los Angeles Police Department. The depravity of sex traffickers who prey on the most vulnerable in our community, including children, knows no bounds.”
Adkins pleaded guilty to one felony count of human trafficking of an adult and one felony count of human trafficking of a minor for a commercial sex act, both classified as violent felonies. He confessed to inflicting “great bodily injury on both victims during the commission of these offenses.”
Hochman issued a stern warning to all individuals involved in the sex trafficking industry in Los Angeles, emphasizing that their prosecution was imminent. He affirmed his commitment to eradicating sex trafficking by aggressively targeting traffickers and pimps, as well as focusing on the buyers who fuel the demand for such exploitation.
Upon his release from prison, Adkins will be required to register as a sex offender for life. The case serves as a stark reminder that there will be severe consequences for those engaging in the abhorrent practice of sex trafficking, particularly when it involves the brutal torment of vulnerable young victims.
