Beta Film Sells Channel 4’s Hit Series ‘Patience’ in 100 Territories
Beta Film’s hit series “Patience” has achieved a significant milestone by securing international sales in 100 territories worldwide. The British show, which airs on Channel 4, has garnered attention from major networks such as AMC Networks, ABC, and BBC Brit, among others.
The success of “Patience” Season 2 has been remarkable, with the series becoming the most-watched show on Channel 4 across linear and streaming platforms. The first episode alone attracted a 4.2 million audience in a 28-day period, with streaming viewing minutes increasing by 38% compared to the previous year.
In the United States, “Patience” also made a mark as one of the most popular series on PBS’s digital platforms in 2025. Set in the historic city of York, the show follows the adventures of young police archivist Patience Evans, played by Ella Maisy Purvis, as she teams up with Detective Frankie Monroe, portrayed by Jessica Hynes, to solve complex crimes.
The series has been renewed for a third season, with filming scheduled to begin in Belgium and York this spring. The cast will include familiar faces such as Nathan Welsh, Mark Benton, Adrian Rawlins, and Liza Sadovy, alongside newcomers like Tom Lewis and Ali Ariaie.
Behind the camera, directors Maarten Moerkerke and Jan Matthys will return to helm the show, with writers Matt Baker, Amy Shindler, and Beth Chalmers collaborating on the scripts. Executive producers Jo McGrath and Walter Iuzzolino will continue to oversee the production of all seasons.
Beta Film will handle worldwide distribution of “Patience,” while PBS Distribution will hold the North American rights. The show’s popularity and critical acclaim have paved the way for its expansion into new markets, solidifying its position as a must-watch series for audiences around the globe.
