SL Green buys Daniel Boulud’s flagship NYC property for $18.5M

SL Green Acquires Restaurant Daniel Property for $18.5 Million

SL Green, the city’s largest commercial landlord, has purchased the flagship restaurant property of renowned chef Daniel Boulud. The nearly 16,000-square-foot condo space of Restaurant Daniel at 60 E. 65th St. was acquired for $18.5 million, as per public records.

Despite the acquisition, there will be no immediate changes at the Michelin-starred eatery, as Boulud’s Dinex Group has signed a 20-year lease with SL Green.

The deal provides Dinex with additional resources to support its expansion efforts, which include recent openings in Hong Kong and upcoming ventures in London. Boulud expressed excitement about the transaction, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the strength and relevance of Restaurant Daniel.

Dinex CEO Sebastien Silvestri highlighted that the sale allows the company to concentrate on its core restaurant business, which includes popular establishments in New York such as Café Boulud and Le Gratin.

SL Green’s executive vice-president Brett Herschenfeld noted that the acquisition strengthens the company’s investment in the Upper East Side community and further solidifies its partnership with Boulud.

Green and Boulud have a longstanding relationship, with SLG already serving as the landlord for several of Boulud’s establishments in the city. The close collaboration between the two parties underscores their commitment to the culinary industry.

Overall, the acquisition of Restaurant Daniel’s property marks a significant milestone in the ongoing partnership between SL Green and Daniel Boulud, setting the stage for continued success and growth in the restaurant business.
