Jimmy Kimmel Nails Fox News Over ‘Shameful’ Trump Moment
Jimmy Kimmel criticized Fox News on Monday for trying to cover up what he described as a “shameful” act by President Donald Trump during a dignified transfer for fallen U.S. service members.
“We’ve now lost seven American lives in Trump’s war on Iran, and paying respect to troops who sacrificed everything as a result of a decision you made is one of the most important things a president does,” Kimmel said. “But God forbid he just do it normally and respectfully.”
Trump attended the event wearing a cap that he sells on his own website for $55. Kimmel pointed out, “Every situation is a merchandising opportunity. And of course, whenever the president does something shameful, the heroes at Fox News swoop in to clean it up for him.”
Instead of showing Trump in his cap, Fox News aired old footage of Trump without a cap. The network later admitted to the mistake after viewers noticed and called them out on social media.
However, Kimmel was not satisfied with Fox News’ response, as they downplayed the incident and did not offer much criticism. To highlight this, Kimmel played a supercut video of Fox News personalities overreacting to past incidents involving other presidents.
