YouTube has recently made a significant change to its advertising strategy by introducing new 30-second non-skippable ads specifically for TV viewers. This move expands the existing range of skippable ad formats available on the platform.

Previously, advertisers had the option to choose from various ad formats including skippable in-stream ads, non-skippable in-stream ads, in-feed video ads, bumper ads, masthead ads, and YouTube Shorts ads. The addition of non-skippable ads for TV viewers aims to enhance the effectiveness of advertising campaigns by ensuring that users watch the entire ad without the option to skip.

For users who find ads intrusive and time-consuming, YouTube offers a solution in the form of paid subscriptions. By subscribing to YouTube Premium, users can enjoy an ad-free viewing experience and also gain access to YouTube Music. The current subscription price for YouTube Premium is £12.99 per month or £129.99 per year.

Alternatively, users can opt for the more affordable Premium Lite option, which allows them to avoid most ads (though not all) and does not include access to YouTube Music. This tier is priced at £7.99 per month.
