High School Baseball Player, 15, Dies After Suffering Head Injury
A heartbreaking tragedy struck the community when 15-year-old high school baseball player Bentley Wolfe passed away after sustaining a head injury during practice. The incident occurred on March 2 during his team’s first practice of the season when Wolfe was struck by a baseball, leading to a severe brain bleed. Despite the best efforts to save him, Wolfe’s mother, Samantha Simpson, shared the devastating news of his passing on March 6.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Simpson expressed her disbelief and sorrow over losing her son, describing him as an angel on earth who had now found peace in heaven. She also revealed that Wolfe’s organs would be donated in the hopes of saving others from similar tragedies. The outpouring of love and support from the community, as well as the numerous donations and gestures of kindness, provided some comfort to the grieving family during this difficult time.
Chrisman High School, where Wolfe was a sophomore, organized a prayer vigil in his honor, which was attended by hundreds of friends and classmates. The Peoria County Coroner’s office confirmed Wolfe’s passing, emphasizing his heroic decision to become an organ donor and potentially save lives through his selfless act.
