“Mozart Mozart,” a lavish glam rock-inspired portrayal of the legendary composer and his possibly more gifted sister, has been acquired by Beta Film and Bavaria Media, with Germany’s ARD leading the production. The series has already been sold to various broadcasters around the world.

Among the early licensing deals, AMC Networks has secured the rights for Latin America, while Canal+ and SBS have obtained the rights for Austria and Australia respectively. Austria’s ORF is also a co-producer of the show.

Other European broadcasters that have acquired “Mozart Mozart” include public network RTP, Latvian TV, Tet+ in Latvia, and 1TV Armenia.

When Wolfgang Mozart and Maria Anna Mozart embarked on tours of Europe as child prodigies, Maria Anna often took the spotlight. Despite her talent, she eventually married and devoted her life to her family.

“Mozart Mozart” presents a reimagined version of the Mozart siblings’ story, focusing on their love, rebellion, rivalry, and romance.

The series kicks off with a dramatic scene in Episode 1, where a teenage Maria Anna is ejected from a performance alongside her younger brother Wolfgang. Years later, in Salzburg, Wolfgang delivers a mesmerizing performance that blends classical piano with glam rock elements, showcasing his musical genius.

As the siblings face challenges in Salzburg, Maria Anna decides to flee with Wolfgang to Vienna in pursuit of a court position. When Wolfgang falls ill, Maria Anna steps in disguised as her brother, captivating the court with her talent and drawing the attention of their rival, Antonio Salieri.

As Maria Anna navigates an arranged marriage and a secret identity, the series delves into themes of deception, ambition, and love, culminating in a gripping narrative that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.

Starring Havana Joy as Maria Anna and Eren M. Güvercin as Wolfgang, “Mozart Mozart” is a six-hour drama that promises to captivate audiences with its fresh take on the iconic siblings.

With Andreas Gutzeit at the helm as the creator and showrunner, “Mozart Mozart” is a testament to his success with projects like “Sisi.” The series is a collaborative effort with Swantje Oppermann and Clara Zoë My-Linh von Arnim, who bring their expertise to the table.

By offering a unique perspective on the Mozart siblings and infusing modern elements into their story, “Mozart Mozart” aims to appeal to a diverse audience and showcase the timeless appeal of their music and legacy.
