Hulu Passes on La LA Anthony, Kim Kardashian Pilot ‘Group Chat’

Hulu has made the decision not to move forward with the comedy pilot “Group Chat,” which was inspired by La La Anthony’s book “The Love Playbook: Rules for Love, Sex, and Happiness.” The show, which was in development under Kim Kardashian’s first-look deal with 20th Television, was written by Kenya Barris.

Originally announced in 2024, the pilot starred La La Anthony and included a cast featuring Yaya DaCosta, Melanie Liburd, Rebecca Rittenhouse, and Stephanie Suganami. Kim Kardashian was set to guest star and serve as the narrator for the series. Despite the show not being picked up, Anthony and Kardashian are still collaborating on a new project currently in development at Hulu.

The untitled Tracy Oliver comedy series, in which both Anthony and Kardashian serve as executive producers, follows the story of a crisis manager for professional athletes in the Bay Area whose life is turned upside down by her husband’s scandal. She leans on her three close friends for support as they navigate the challenges of dating, ambition, motherhood, and starting over in the midst of a glamorous mess.

Tracy Oliver, known for writing the successful comedy film “Girls Trip,” is also an executive producer and writer on the new Hulu project. Her previous works include “The Blackening,” “The Sun Is Also a Star,” and “Little,” as well as creating the TV series “The First Wives Club” for BET+ and “Harlem” for Amazon Prime Video.

Oliver is represented by CAA, Artists First, and Myman Greenspan, while Kim Kardashian is represented by WME and La La Anthony by Linden Entertainment, WME, and Sloane Offer.

The new project promises to bring a fresh and entertaining take on friendship, love, and reinvention, with a talented team of producers and writers behind it. Fans can look forward to seeing the collaborative efforts of Anthony, Kardashian, and Oliver come to life on Hulu in the near future.
