Trump threatens to bomb Iran power plants and bridges on Tuesday
President Donald Trump made a social media post on Sunday, using strong language, threatening to strike Iran’s power plants and bridges if the Strait of Hormuz isn’t opened to all marine traffic by Tuesday. He referred to those in Iran as “crazy bastards” who would be “living in Hell.” This threat came just hours after announcing that the U.S. had rescued the final airman shot down in Iran the previous week.
Trump’s post on Truth Social mentioned that Tuesday would be the day for targeting power plants and bridges in Iran. Later, he posted a cryptic message on Truth Social, indicating the date and time as Tuesday at 8:00 PM Eastern Time. The White House stated that this would be the deadline for Iran to reach a deal with the U.S.
Despite warnings that destroying civilian infrastructure could be considered a war crime, Trump has continued his threats against Iran. He has vowed to send the country back to the “stone age” if his demands are not met. Senator Tim Kaine criticized Trump’s comments as “embarrassing and juvenile,” expressing concern for the safety of captured airmen in Iran.
Iran has not shown signs of backing down, retaliating by targeting economic and infrastructure facilities in neighboring Gulf Arab countries. Both sides have exchanged accusations and warnings, escalating tensions in the region. Amidst these developments, the U.S. has been pressuring Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil and gas supplies.
Trump’s statements and actions have caused uncertainty and concern, with the conflict showing no signs of resolution. The international community is closely monitoring the situation as both the U.S. and Iran continue to engage in aggressive rhetoric and actions. Trump has successfully rescued a missing U.S. service member who was captured after Iran shot down a fighter jet. He also warned Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by Tuesday or face strikes on key infrastructure. The rescued airman, an officer, was seriously wounded but safely recovered. Trump praised the daring Search and Rescue Operation conducted by the United States Military. He mentioned that the first crew member’s rescue was not initially confirmed to protect the operation. The president plans to address the military operation in Iran at a news conference on Monday.
U.S. Central Command confirmed the successful rescue of two American service members from Iran after their F-15E fighter jet was shot down during a combat mission. The rescue missions were completed separately. Strikes into Iran will continue to weaken the regime’s power projection capabilities.
Iran retaliated by targeting petrochemical facilities in neighboring Gulf states. Abu Dhabi’s Borouge petrochemical plant encountered fires due to debris from air defense systems. Operations were suspended at the plant. Similarly, the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company in Bahrain was attacked by Iranian drones. The attacks also extended to a petrochemical zone in southwestern Iran, injuring several people. A projectile hit near Iran’s Bushehr nuclear plant but did not affect its operations.
In Kuwait, Iranian drone attacks caused significant damage to power plants and a petrochemical plant. Bahrain also experienced a fire at a national oil company’s storage facility and a petrochemical plant due to drone attacks. In the UAE, fires at a petrochemical plant were caused by intercepted debris. Israel retaliated by striking targets in Tehran.
Kuwait Petroleum reported damage from Iranian drone attacks, with fires and severe material damage at operating units. The state energy company is working to contain the fires. No casualties were reported in any of the incidents. The ongoing conflict between the U.S. and Israel against Iran has led to attacks on petrochemical plants in Kuwait, the UAE, and Bahrain.
The U.S.-Israeli war on Iran continues, with Tehran targeting Israel and Gulf Arab states hosting U.S. military installations. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for the attacks on petrochemical plants in Kuwait, the UAE, and Bahrain.
