Glam London club Annabel’s is coming to NYC as members-only spots continue to pop up
London’s popular and exclusive club, Annabel’s, is opening a branch in New York City to bring a touch of British glamour to the city’s growing members-only club scene. The New York outpost will be located at Hudson and West 13th streets in the Meatpacking District. The original Annabel’s club in London was founded in the 1960s and quickly became a hotspot for aristocrats, celebrities, and the wealthy elite.
The club’s owner, Richard Caring, acquired Annabel’s in 2007 and has since expanded his hospitality empire. The New York location, set to open in the former home of Dos Caminos, will be designed by Martin Brudnizki, who also designed the London club. The opening date is yet to be announced.
As members-only clubs continue to grow in popularity in New York City, Annabel’s will join the likes of other exclusive establishments in the area. The Meatpacking District, where the new Annabel’s will be located, is known for its vibrant nightlife scene. Private club memberships have become a form of social currency, with friends taking turns bringing each other to their respective clubs.
The trend of private club memberships is expected to continue to rise, with more establishments like Annabel’s entering the scene. However, there may be a market correction in the future, leading to the survival of only a few select clubs. As the demand for exclusive experiences grows, private clubs will play a significant role in the city’s social scene.
