Best in Adults 18-49 Demographic Since 2017

Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” has started off 2026 with a bang, achieving its highest young adult ratings in over eight years. The network reported that in the first quarter of 2026, the show garnered a 0.579 rating among adults aged 18-49, marking its best performance in this demographic since the fourth quarter of 2017.

One of the main drivers of this surge in ratings is the Monday night episodes hosted by Jon Stewart, which currently holds the top spot as the number one late-night show among adults aged 18-49. Additionally, the Tuesday-through-Thursday episodes, hosted by the rotating team of Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic, have also seen year-over-year growth.

In terms of linear viewership, “The Daily Show” has seen a significant 52% increase in adults aged 18-49 compared to the previous year, with Stewart’s Monday episodes averaging a 0.709 rating, up 30% from last year. The rest of the news team’s episodes are also performing well, with a 70% increase in ratings from the previous year.

The show’s quarterly share among adults aged 18-49 is at its highest since 2015, with a 44% increase from last year. In terms of total viewership, “The Daily Show” is averaging 1.05 million viewers, an 11% increase from the same period last year and its best performance in two years.

On the social media front, “The Daily Show” is dominating as the most-viewed cable program in 2026 so far. The show has seen a 56% increase in views, a 28% increase in engagements, and a 57% increase in total minutes consumed compared to 2025. Additionally, it is the most-watched TV entertainment channel on YouTube, with over 615.5 million views.

“The Daily Show” airs at 11 p.m. ET on Comedy Central and is available for streaming on Paramount+. The show features a lineup of talented hosts and correspondents, including Jon Stewart, Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic, Troy Iwata, and Grace Kuhlenschmidt.

This week’s lineup of guests includes InterAct International co-CEOs Aziz Abu Sarah & Moaz Inon, “BTS: The Return” filmmaker Bao Nguyen, “The Miniature Wife” star Zoe Lister-Jones, and “Beef” creator/EP/writer/director Lee Sung Jin.
