Eric Swalwell’s hotshot lawyer comes out swinging: ‘Regret is not rape’
Eric Swalwell, a former congressman, is facing serious sexual misconduct allegations, including a recent bombshell rape claim. His attorney, Sara Azari, has vehemently defended him, stating that “regret is not rape.” She emphasized that regret or shame after an encounter does not equate to rape.
One of the accusers, Beverly Hills model Lonna Drewes, accused Swalwell of choking her unconscious after allegedly drugging her in 2018. Following her public statement, Drewes and her legal team filed a police report with the LA County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, which took place at the Montrose Hotel in West Hollywood.
In addition to this allegation, Swalwell is also under investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office for another sexual misconduct claim. Despite these accusations, Swalwell has denied all allegations against him through his attorney, Azari. He has called the claims false, fabricated, and politically motivated to tarnish his two-decade-long career in public service.
As the investigations continue, the embattled former politician maintains his innocence. The case remains ongoing, with authorities collecting evidence and conducting inquiries to ascertain the truth behind the allegations.
