Wisconsin dad Joshua Kannin charged after allegedly leaving his 3 kids to die inside burning apartment while he saved himself
A tragic incident occurred on Thanksgiving in Kenosha, Wisconsin, when a father, Joshua Kannin, allegedly left his three children to die in a house fire while he panicked and rushed outside for help. The children, Rylee (10), Connor (9), and Alena (7), lost their lives in the blaze, leaving their mother, Jourdan Feasby, living her worst nightmare.
According to reports, Kenosha police responded to calls about the fully engulfed home on November 27. Kannin, in his underwear, approached the officers seeking assistance. The children were found in different areas of the house, with Alena on the second floor and Connor and Rylee on the first floor. Sadly, the brothers were pronounced dead at the scene, while Alena succumbed to her injuries later in the hospital.
Kannin, who was also hospitalized, admitted to having a cigarette before bed and waking up to either his cat or smoke making noise. He claimed to have seen a small fire in the kitchen before panicking and exiting the house to seek help. Despite urging his children to leave the burning home, Kannin was unable to re-enter due to the smoke.
It was discovered that there were no smoke detectors in the house during the fire inspection. Kannin revealed that he had removed one alarm due to malfunctioning, describing the noise as an annoyance. Feasby had reportedly warned him about the lack of alarms, even informing his mother and the landlord.
Feasby described Kannin’s apartment as filthy and said it was a fend-for-yourself situation. She expressed mixed emotions about his child neglect charges and the ongoing nightmare she is living through since the tragic incident. She is fighting for justice and believes there should be serious repercussions for the negligence that led to her children’s deaths.
The children’s deaths were ruled as accidental, but Feasby continues to seek justice for her lost loved ones. Kannin is scheduled to appear in court on May 14 to face the charges brought against him. The heartbreaking story serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety measures and the devastating consequences of negligence in such matters.
