Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: I Finally Get The Folding Phone Hype

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7: A Surprisingly Impressive Foldable Phone

When it comes to phones, one category that I have always had mixed feelings about is folding phones. I couldn’t see the appeal of spending double the price of a regular smartphone on a bulky device that didn’t offer much real-world benefit. However, when I was in search of a new Samsung phone last month, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 was the only option available. So, I had to make a decision: stick with my current phone or take a leap into the world of foldables.

After using the Galaxy Z Fold 7 for almost four weeks, I must say that I have been pleasantly surprised. The device has completely changed my perspective on foldables and their potential. The design of the Z Fold 7 has addressed many of the issues that plagued earlier folding phones. It is now sleek, lightweight, and barely thicker than a regular smartphone when closed. The crease on the internal display is hardly noticeable and doesn’t affect the viewing experience on the gorgeous 8-inch panel.

In terms of specs, the Z Fold 7 holds its own against flagship smartphones like the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It features a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a 200Mp main rear camera that delivers excellent performance. The dual displays offer a unique viewing experience, especially for multimedia consumption and multitasking. The battery life is also impressive, providing up to three days of usage on a single charge.

One of the standout features of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is its software. Samsung’s One UI 8 is intuitive, customizable, and optimized for the larger internal screen. The device offers seamless multitasking features and enhanced usability for both stock and third-party apps. The software experience on the Z Fold 7 is a major strength compared to other foldable phones.

While the Galaxy Z Fold 7 comes with a hefty price tag, it may not be as expensive as it seems when compared to other flagship devices. The option to purchase the phone on a contract basis can make it more accessible to a wider audience. Overall, the Z Fold 7 offers a unique and compelling user experience that sets it apart from traditional smartphones.

In conclusion, while I have been impressed by the Galaxy Z Fold 7, I am looking to switch back to a regular Samsung Galaxy phone in the near future. The Z Fold 7 excels in certain scenarios where a second screen is beneficial, but for my personal usage, a single-screen device is more practical. I may consider returning to foldables in the future, depending on the advancements in technology and design. The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 or a foldable iPhone could be the devices that change my mind about the necessity of a second screen.
