‘Deli Boys’ Emmy Campaign Season 2: Kumail Nanjiani, Fred Armisen
Hulu is rolling out the red carpet for the Emmys with a delicious invitation to the Deli. The streaming platform is making a bold move by submitting the second season of its hit Pakistani American comedy series, “Deli Boys,” for consideration in a whopping 22 categories, with a total of 28 submissions planned. This exclusive scoop was reported by Variety.
The heart of Hulu’s Emmy campaign is a strong push for outstanding comedy series, as the highly anticipated sophomore season is set to premiere on May 28, 2026. Fans can binge-watch the new season just three days before the end of the eligibility window. “Deli Boys” made a splash in its debut season, earning a stellar 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and landing on numerous best-of lists.
The talented cast of “Deli Boys” is ready to compete for Emmy gold. Saagar Shaikh, who portrays the impulsive younger brother Raj Dar, will be vying for the lead comedy actor category. Asif Ali, as elder brother Mir Dar, and Brian George, as Ahmad, will lead the charge in the supporting actor field. Joining the cast this season are Emmy winner and “Saturday Night Live” alum Fred Armisen, as casino magnate Max Sugar, and Tony nominee and Grammy winner Andrew Rannells, as Philadelphia District Attorney Andrew Chadwater.
Poorna Jagannathan, who captivated audiences with her portrayal of the formidable crime-boss auntie Lucky, will be the lone submission for supporting comedy actress.
The Emmy campaign for “Deli Boys” will also shine a spotlight on a roster of guest stars. Emmy and Oscar nominee Kumail Nanjiani, “Queer Eye” host Tan France, and former “Glee” star Iqbal Theba will be competing in the guest comedy actor category. Additionally, six-time Emmy nominated comedian Robin Thede and Canadian comedian Lilly Singh are set to vie for spots in the guest comedy actress race.
The series will also be in the running for directing and comedy categories, with official selections still to be announced. Hulu plans to submit “Deli Boys” in an additional 14 craft categories, with specific episode submissions and craft details to follow.
Season 2 of “Deli Boys” picks up with the Dar brothers navigating the challenges of running a criminal empire. Mir works to expand the family business without causing chaos, Raj seeks revenge, and Lucky’s personal and professional lives intertwine with the arrival of Max Sugar.
Emmy submissions are due by May 7, with nomination-round voting taking place from June 11-22. The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations will be announced on July 8.
