Unruly man nabbed by Secret Service at Trump’s Florida golf course a week after Correspondents’ shooting
An incident unfolded at President Trump’s Florida golf course, the Trump Doral National Golf Club, on Saturday afternoon. An unidentified man was arrested by the Secret Service after causing chaos, defying orders, and getting physical with a Secret Service agent at a security checkpoint. Fortunately, Trump was not present at the club during the incident.
The suspect was taken into custody around 4:15 p.m. and was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting without violence. He was detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami. The Secret Service confirmed that the security protocols for any upcoming visits to the golf club were not impacted by the incident.
Video footage shared on social media by Nick Sortor showed the individual being handcuffed after allegedly setting off magnetometers at the entry screening area. The security checkpoint was manned by federal agents and law enforcement officers to ensure the safety of the premises.
This incident comes on the heels of a more serious security breach at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner the previous week. Cole Allen, armed with a shotgun and knives, attempted to assassinate Trump and members of his cabinet at the Washington Hilton. The California teacher is facing charges of attempting to assassinate the president, transporting weapons across state lines with intent to commit a felony, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence. If convicted, Allen could face life in prison.
The Secret Service and law enforcement agencies continue to maintain a vigilant stance in ensuring the safety and security of the president and his surroundings. The events at both the golf club and the White House Correspondents’ Dinner highlight the importance of stringent security measures in place to prevent any harm to the president and those around him.
