Google Android 17 QPR1 Beta 2 Released
Google has recently released Android 17 QPR1 Beta 2, just two weeks after the initial beta version. This update, however, does not bring any major new features but instead focuses on fixing bugs and addressing issues that users have been facing. This minor update comes as part of Google’s Quarterly Platform Release strategy, which aims to provide regular updates to Pixel 6 and newer devices through the Android beta program.
The first beta version of the Android 17 update did not introduce any significant changes or features, and the same holds true for Beta 2. Despite the lack of new features, Beta 2 addresses nine key issues that have been plaguing users. These include problems with the Terminal app, glitches in lock screen text, bugs in conference calls, issues with the mobile signal indicator, and more.
If you are part of Google’s Android beta program and own a Pixel 6 or a newer device, you can test out this early build of Android 17 QPR1 Beta 2. It is important to note that the first Google Pixel Fold does not seem to be included in the list of compatible devices for this beta release.
Google’s approach of releasing quarterly platform updates means that users can expect to see major new features being rolled out every few months, rather than waiting for a big annual overhaul. While Beta 2 may not bring any groundbreaking changes, the focus on bug fixes and addressing user issues is a step in the right direction. Stay tuned for further updates and improvements as Google continues to refine the Android 17 OS.
