Attorneys Criticize Bond Denial, Highlighting Cole Allen Case

YNW Melly‘s legal team is strongly criticizing the decision to deny his bond while awaiting retrial in a double murder case. They are drawing attention to a recent ruling in the case of the alleged Trump assassination attempt.
Melly, also known as Jamell Demons, had his bond request denied by the court. His attorneys, Drew Findling and Carey Haughwout, expressed their discontent with the decision, highlighting the stark contrast with the treatment of other defendants in similar situations.
In their statement, the attorneys referenced the case of Cole Allen, where a judge publicly apologized for the conditions Allen faced in jail. This comparison highlights the disparities in treatment within the legal system.
The defense team for YNW Melly argues that he has been subjected to “inhumane conditions” during his seven-year incarceration, including three years in solitary confinement. This treatment has raised concerns among legal professionals and advocates for fair trial practices.

The legal team further stated, “In our combined years of practice, we have never witnessed such harsh treatment as that experienced by Mr. Demons. Colleagues in the legal community share our disbelief and outrage at the conditions imposed in this case.”
YNW Melly’s retrial is set for January 2027, with charges related to the 2018 shooting deaths of Christopher Thomas Jr. and Anthony Williams.
