Harry Enten Gets Real About Dems’ ‘Nightmare’ Midterms Scenario

CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten raised concerns for Democrats in the upcoming November elections, citing a “nightmare” scenario following the party’s significant redistricting loss to Republicans in Virginia.

Enten pointed out the recent shift in partisan redistricting battles, indicating that Republicans are likely to emerge victorious in 2026.

Despite this, Enten explained that Democrats would need to secure a national House popular vote victory by a margin of 3 to 4 points to counteract the impact of redistricting changes.

He emphasized that the party currently holds a lead of approximately 6 points in the national House vote, providing some optimism for Democrats.

However, Enten cautioned that the margin for error is narrow, as historical data suggests a typical margin of error of around plus or minus 7 points.

Despite these challenges, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries expressed confidence that Democrats could still secure control of the lower chamber, while Rep. Jennifer McClellan hinted at exploring all available options in response to the redistricting ruling.
