Variety and NBCUniversal Partner for Cross-Platform NBC100 Content

Variety and NBCUniversal have joined forces for a special collaboration in honor of NBC’s 100th anniversary. The partnership will involve a comprehensive content initiative that will span across various platforms including digital, print, social media, video, and podcasts.

Commencing next month, Variety will feature a recurring series of NBC100 editorial and branded content. This series aims to delve into the rich history of NBC, exploring its past achievements, its current standing in the industry, and its future prospects. The content rollout will continue until December, coinciding with NBCUniversal’s anniversary campaign finale – a live three-hour primetime special on December 10.

Variety will draw upon its extensive archive and work closely with NBCUniversal archivists to highlight significant moments in NBC’s history. Emphasis will be placed on NBC’s legacy of innovation and its enduring presence as a key player in the media and entertainment landscape. The editorial series will also analyze NBC’s evolution over the past century in light of the ongoing disruptions in the industry, offering insights into what this means for its parent company, NBCUniversal.

The NBC100 content produced by Variety will be distributed across the brand’s various platforms, with additional live media extensions planned. All coverage related to NBC’s centennial celebration will be consolidated on a dedicated hub on Variety’s website.

Cynthia Littleton, co-Editor in Chief of Variety, expressed excitement about the partnership, describing it as a unique opportunity to explore the impact of NBC on the media sector. She highlighted the importance of uncovering untold stories and recognizing the contributions of individuals who have shaped the course of history.

Leading the initiative are Emily Longeretta, Variety’s director of features, and Michael Schneider, executive editor of television, alongside Cynthia Littleton. Donna Pennestri, Variety’s associate publisher, and Alex Hughes, executive producer of the Variety Content Studio, are also closely involved in steering the project.

Overall, this collaboration between Variety and NBCUniversal promises to offer audiences a comprehensive look at NBC’s remarkable journey over the past century, shedding light on its influence on the media and entertainment industry. Stay tuned for more exciting content as we celebrate NBC’s 100th anniversary together.
