Lightcraft’s Upcoming Animated Feature ‘Wonderland’ Expanding Into TV
Polish production company Lightcraft is making waves in the entertainment industry with its highly anticipated animated film “Wonderland.” The film, starring Roman Griffin Davis and Mads Mikkelsen, follows the adventures of 12-year-old Jake and his friend Jenny as they face off against the mysterious Vagapulga in their dreams.
After a successful reception at last year’s AFM, German distributor Kinostar is gearing up to present a new TV series based on “Wonderland” at the Marché du Film in Cannes. The series, set to premiere in early 2027, will consist of two seasons and will explore the vibrant world of the film in even greater depth.
The show will pick up after the events of the movie, following the same core characters on new, standalone adventures across multiple worlds. Louis Serkis, known for his roles in “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple” and “The Kid Who Would Be King,” will lead the series, infusing it with a fresh and emotionally grounded energy.
Visually, the series will feature a hybrid 2.5D approach, combining cinematic depth with a stylized identity. The production will be entirely handcrafted, with each shot meticulously created by a team of talented artists with credits on popular franchises like “Harry Potter” and “Kung Fu Panda.”
Director and Lightcraft CEO Daniel Markowicz emphasized the series’ focus on creating meaningful and engaging content that connects with audiences on a human level. With “Wonderland” positioned as a long-term global IP, the production company has plans for more stories within the universe and additional animated projects in the pipeline.
The creative team behind the series includes industry veterans like Maks Naporowski, Mikolaj Valencia, and Peter Bielicki, ensuring a high-quality and visually stunning viewing experience. Kinostar, handling world sales for both the film and series, is excited about the international interest in “Wonderland” and looks forward to expanding the franchise into new worlds.
Overall, “Wonderland” is shaping up to be a captivating and immersive experience for audiences of all ages, blending adventure, humor, and emotion in a visually striking package. With a talented cast and crew at the helm, the series promises to be a standout addition to the world of animated entertainment.
