Video footage from Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign has been making the rounds on social media, showing him speaking in admiration of Xi Jinping and his control over China’s one-party state, which is often criticized for its human rights abuses.

At one event, Trump remarked, “He controls 1.4 billion people with an iron fist. They want me to say he’s just of average intelligence, but I can’t. The way he commands a million soldiers, the whole presence – it’s impressive.”

During a summit in Beijing, Trump continued to praise Xi, saying, “You are a great leader. It’s an honor to be with you, to be your friend. The relationship between China and the USA will flourish like never before.”
