NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. — The PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club is heating up with the possibility of a Met-Area major champion emerging by the end of the weekend. As the tournament heads into the final 36 holes, the leaderboard showcases some promising talent from the New York/New Jersey region.

Chris Gotterup, hailing from Little Silver, N.J. near the Jersey Shore, has surged into contention, currently tied for third at 3-under par. His impressive performance in Friday’s second round, where he carded a tournament-low 65, has put him in a prime position to make a run for the title.

Another rising star from the Met Area is Cam Young, a native of Scarborough, N.Y. and a standout player from Sleepy Hollow Country Club. The former Fordham Prep standout is tied for ninth at 2-under after posting a solid 67 in the second round.

With two players from the region inside the top 10 at the PGA Championship, the excitement is palpable. Could we see a Met-Area golfer hoisting the trophy at the end of the tournament? The odds are looking more promising with each passing round.

As the competition intensifies, all eyes are on Gotterup and Young as they chase their major championship dreams. With two more rounds to play, the stage is set for a thrilling finish at Aronimink Golf Club. Stay tuned to see if a Met-Area player can clinch victory and etch their name in the annals of golf history.
