Seagull splatters King Charles III during Northern Ireland visit

LONDON — A surprising incident occurred on Wednesday during King Charles III’s visit to Northern Ireland when a seagull made a memorable mark.

The mischievous bird left a messy surprise by splattering the king’s suit jacket and those around him, including members of the press.

Despite the unexpected turn of events, King Charles III maintained his composure and humor. “It’s fortunate it didn’t land on my head,” he joked, as recounted by witness Irene Marting.

Marting shared a local belief that being targeted by a seagull is a sign of good luck. She expressed delight at the king’s visit to Northern Ireland and his presence in Newcastle.

The royal couple, King Charles III and Queen Camilla, were on a three-day visit to the southeast coastal town. Fortunately, Queen Camilla was spared from the seagull incident as she was engaged in a separate visit to Royal Hillsborough, where she attempted to pour a pint of Guinness at a local pub.

Earlier in the day, during a visit to a food pantry, the king made a lighthearted remark about the importance of toilet paper, hinting at the unexpected events that would unfold later.
