Jill Biden says ex president Joe Biden will live with stage 4 cancer for the rest of his life

Former first lady Dr. Jill Biden recently provided an update on her husband, former President Joe Biden’s battle with cancer. During a discussion with political commentator Ana Navarro for her new book “View From the East Wing: A Memoir,” Jill Biden shared that Joe Biden, 83, has been diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer that has metastasized to his bones. Despite this challenging diagnosis, she emphasized that Joe Biden continues to lead a busy life, although at a slower pace.

The journey began when Jill noticed that Joe was frequently getting up seven times a night to go to the bathroom while he was still president. After leaving the White House in 2025, she urged him to see a urologist, leading to the discovery of his cancer. Jill expressed her surprise at the diagnosis, as she never imagined it would be prostate cancer. She explained that while some cases of prostate cancer can be cured, Joe Biden’s advanced stage requires lifelong management with special medications.

Joe Biden underwent radiation treatment, requiring frequent trips from their home in Delaware to Philadelphia for five weeks. Despite the toll it has taken on him, Jill noted that Joe has continued to honor his commitments, although he has had to slow down due to the effects of the cancer and medications. She emphasized the challenges of being a caretaker, taking on the responsibilities of managing his medications, doctor appointments, and ensuring he maintains a healthy lifestyle.

In May 2025, Joe Biden publicly announced his cancer diagnosis, and since then, he has been actively involved in various public appearances and engagements. Jill shared that he recently participated in a veterans’ ceremony and has been traveling on Amtrak, among other activities. Despite his resilience, she acknowledged that managing stage four cancer at his age presents significant challenges.

In addition to discussing Joe Biden’s health, Jill and Navarro delved into other topics covered in her book, including the decision for Joe to drop out of the 2024 presidential race following a disastrous debate. Jill recalled the emotional moment when Joe confided in her that he had no choice but to withdraw from the race. She also addressed the hurtful experience of Democrats publicly calling for Joe to step down and the subsequent reconciliation with Nancy Pelosi at a funeral event.

Reflecting on the political landscape, Jill highlighted the double standard in discussions around her husband’s age and mental acuity compared to other politicians. Looking ahead to the next presidential election, she emphasized the importance of integrity, trustworthiness, and empathy in a candidate, qualities she believes reflect the values of the American people.

Overall, Jill Biden’s candid discussion sheds light on the personal and political challenges faced by her family, providing insight into their journey through Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis and the impact it has had on their lives.
