Helen Mirren Shows Support for Tom Hardy Amid MobLand Drama
Hollywood veteran Helen Mirren has come out in support of her co-star Tom Hardy amidst rumors of his alleged firing from their show MobLand. In an exclusive interview with Variety, Mirren, 80, expressed her unwavering support for the 48-year-old actor, dismissing any doubts about their future collaboration.
When asked if she would continue working with Hardy despite the controversy, Mirren responded emphatically, saying, “Absolutely. In a heartbeat.” The Academy Award-winning actress went on to praise Hardy’s talent and unique approach to his craft, emphasizing that as long as the final product on screen is exceptional, she has no qualms about the methods employed by fellow actors.
“I love Tom, I think he’s the most amazing actor,” Mirren gushed. “Different actors have different processes. I’ve learnt over the years that some people get to things faster. As long as what’s on the screen is fantastic, I’m totally chilled with however someone gets there. Tom is a very special person. I think he’s absolutely remarkable. My support of him is genuine and heartfelt.”
Reports emerged last month suggesting that Hardy had been fired from MobLand by Paramount+ due to his alleged behavior on set during the filming of the show’s second season. Allegations included showing up late, requesting script changes, and isolating himself in his trailer for extended periods.
While some sources claimed that Hardy was indeed let go from the show, others disputed this narrative. Variety reported that Hardy had not been fired, and discussions were ongoing about his involvement in a potential third season of MobLand.
Hardy, known for his roles in Inception and The Dark Knight Rises, has not publicly addressed the allegations, nor has Paramount+. Mirren, on the other hand, subtly addressed the situation on social media by posting a supportive message to Hardy on her Instagram Story.
In MobLand, Hardy portrays Harry Da Souza, a fixer for the Harrigan crime family in London. The star-studded cast also includes Pierce Brosnan, Paddy Considine, and Anson Boon as members of the Harrigan family, with Guy Ritchie serving as executive producer and director. Hardy is also credited as an executive producer on the series.
