Health influencer and nurse killed in Bay Area robbery

A tragic incident in downtown Oakland has left the community mourning the loss of a beloved nurse and social media influencer known as Nurse Solomon. Lartey Solomon, a 33-year-old registered nurse, was fatally shot during an alleged robbery attempt on May 31st, leaving behind a devastated family and thousands of followers who admired him for his health advice and educational content.

The suspect, Vallejo resident Shacory Carnell Daniels, 39, has been charged with murder, attempted robbery, and other related offenses in connection with Solomon’s death. The incident occurred near the intersection of 14th and Harrison streets, where Solomon was shot while walking to his vehicle. Despite efforts to save him, Solomon succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Solomon, who was known for his informative TikTok videos on health and wellness, had amassed a significant following of over 20,000 followers. Originally from Ghana, he pursued his nursing career in the United States, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Samuel Merritt University. Described as passionate about educating others on health-related topics, Solomon worked as a registered nurse at Alameda Health Care and Kindred Hospital in San Leandro.

In a heartfelt tribute to Solomon, his family described him as someone who viewed caring for others as more than just a profession, but as a true calling. They highlighted his dedication to empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their well-being, a sentiment echoed by his colleagues and patients.

Daniels, the alleged perpetrator, was apprehended on June 4th in Menlo Park and appeared in court for arraignment. With prior felony convictions in multiple counties, Daniels remains in custody without bail pending his next court appearance on June 30th.
