Danny Pintauro Defends Being Amazon Driver After ‘Who’s the Boss’ Fame
Danny Pintauro, best known for his role as Jonathan Bower on the hit sitcom “Who’s the Boss?” in the 80s and 90s, recently made headlines when he shared a photo on Instagram of himself working as an Amazon delivery driver. Many fans were surprised to see the former child star in a new role, but Pintauro explained on a recent episode of the “Pod Meets World” podcast that he has taken on multiple jobs to make ends meet, as acting gigs have been inconsistent.
In the podcast, Pintauro revealed that he is currently juggling five different gig jobs, including his Amazon delivery gig, which pays around $80 to $100 for a two-to-three hour shift. He emphasized the importance of doing what needs to be done to survive and mentioned that he does not rely on residuals from his past acting work to make a living.
This isn’t the first time Pintauro has faced scrutiny for taking on non-acting jobs. He recalled a time when he worked at the Gap after “Who’s the Boss?” ended, and a fan took photos of him folding clothes, claiming he had lost all his money. Despite the backlash, Pintauro remains resilient and determined to keep moving forward.
In “Who’s the Boss?”, Pintauro played the role of Jonathan Bower, the son of Judith Light’s character, Angela Bower. The show, which aired for eight seasons from 1984 to 1992, followed the life of Tony Micelli, played by Tony Danza, who becomes the live-in housekeeper for the Bower family. Pintauro’s character was a fan favorite, and he has fond memories of his time on the show.
In a statement shared on social media, Pintauro expressed that there is no shame in staying active and working hard even when acting opportunities are scarce. He acknowledged the challenges of the entertainment industry and emphasized the importance of taking whatever work is available while continuing to pursue his passion.
Pintauro’s decision to take on multiple jobs is not uncommon in the entertainment industry, where actors often have to navigate periods of unemployment. Despite the challenges, Pintauro remains optimistic and determined to keep moving forward. His story serves as a reminder that hard work and perseverance are essential in any career, no matter how successful one may have been in the past.
