Pro Wrestler Joe Doering Dies at Age 44 After Cancer Battle
Pro wrestler Joe Doering tragically passed away at the age of 44 after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. TNA Wrestling announced the heartbreaking news on Friday, June 26, expressing their deepest condolences to his fans, friends, and family. Doering had a successful career with TNA Wrestling, where he held the TNA World Tag Team Championships twice.
Throughout the past decade, Doering faced various health issues, including a brain tumor diagnosis in 2016 that initially forced him to step away from competing in All Japan Pro Wrestling. Despite making a comeback in 2017, he had to take another break from the sport in 2022 due to a recurrence of cancer. By December 2025, he was diagnosed with a third brain tumor along with ataxia, which affected his muscle coordination.
His sister-in-law, Mandy Banh, set up a GoFundMe page to support Doering during his treatment, which raised over $22,000. On June 22, Banh shared the news that Doering was entering hospice care, and on Friday, she sadly announced his peaceful passing. Doering was known for his wrestling career in Japan and the American independent scene, briefly signing with WWE in 2010.
Fellow wrestlers paid tribute to Doering, with Josh Alexander remembering their final match together in TNA in 2022. Alexander praised Doering as a professional and a class act, expressing both honor and sadness at closing out his career. Sami Callihan also honored Doering as a throwback to a different era in pro wrestling, describing him as funny, respectful, and a big brother figure to many.
Doering’s legacy in the wrestling world will forever be remembered, and his impact on the industry and those he connected with will not be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Joe Doering.
