Colombia Named Country of Honor at Annecy Animation Festival
The prestigious Annecy Animation Festival, known as the most prominent animation festival in the world, has recently announced that Colombia will be named as its Country of Honor next year. The capital city, Bogotá, is home to several prominent studios like Team Toon Studio, Caballo Loco Studio, Dinamita Animación, Piragna, Hierro Animación, Lucy Animation Studio, and Ikartoons Animation, showcasing the diversity and talent within the Colombian animation industry.
Marcel Jean, the artistic director of the Annecy Animation Festival, praised Colombia’s artistic output and international presence, noting the country’s efforts in co-productions and participation in major industry events. He highlighted the enthusiasm and talent of a new generation of animators in Colombia, with filmmakers like Mária Cristina Pérez making a mark with their innovative and impactful work.
