Bronx rodeo where rider was hurled from bull and trampled on didn’t have permit: report

The Bronx Rodeo Faces Backlash After Bull Rider Is Injured Without Permit

A recent rodeo held in the Bronx has come under fire after a bull rider was seriously injured without the necessary permit for the event. According to a report by WABC, organizers of the rodeo at Baychester failed to obtain a permit from the New York City Health Department before the event took place.

Permits for rodeos in New York City are typically issued by the city’s Commissioner of Health, making it a legal requirement for such events to have the necessary authorization. The lack of a permit for the Bronx rodeo has raised concerns about the safety and legality of the event.

The rodeo, known as “Rodeo Tierra Caliente,” was reportedly sanctioned by the NYPD despite the lack of a permit. During the event, a 25-year-old bull rider was thrown off the animal and trampled, causing serious injuries. Shocking video footage shows the rider being tossed around and dragged across the dirt before being trampled by the bull.

Witnesses at the event described the chaotic scene, with the injured rider appearing briefly unconscious and bleeding. Fellow bull rider Gato recounted the incident, stating that the rider was hit hard and knocked unconscious after being thrown off the bull.

Off-duty Brooklyn EMT Melanie Ayala, who was present at the rodeo, reported that an announcer urged patrons to stop recording the incident, raising further questions about the handling of the situation.

The injured bull rider was promptly taken to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery. The bull involved in the incident was also secured following the accident.

Rodeo Tierra Caliente, the company behind the event, promotes itself as the leading provider of Mexican-style rodeos in the US. The company has yet to respond to the incident and the lack of a permit for the Bronx rodeo.

The incident has sparked concerns about the safety and regulation of rodeo events in the city, highlighting the importance of proper permits and oversight to ensure the well-being of participants and spectators.
