Josh Peck Reveals ‘Drake and Josh’ Pay on ‘Financial Tea’ Podcast

Josh Peck recently shared some surprising details about his earnings from the beloved Nickelodeon series “Drake and Josh” on the “Financial Tea with Mrs. Dow Jones” podcast. Contrary to what fans might assume, Peck revealed that he and his castmates made significantly less than expected, with their take-home pay averaging around $125,000 per year over the show’s four-year run.

The journey to this figure started with the cast earning $3,000 per episode on “The Amanda Show” before transitioning to “Drake and Josh,” which aired a total of 60 episodes. By the time the show concluded, the average per-episode rate had increased to about $15,000. This resulted in the cast making approximately $900,000 over four years, but after factoring in agent fees, manager commissions, and taxes, Peck estimated that they cleared only half of that amount.

One of the challenges the cast faced was the lack of leverage in negotiations with Nickelodeon, as the network was essentially the only platform for young performers at that level at the time. Peck highlighted the difference between how the “Friends” cast negotiated collectively compared to the “Gilmore Girls” cast, who did not negotiate together and consequently received lower pay.

Despite the financial constraints, Peck acknowledged the importance of his mother, his accountant, and his mentor from Big Brothers Big Sisters in helping him develop sound financial habits. Rather than splurging on big-ticket items, Peck focused on low-cost index fund investing and maintaining a financial cushion for stability.

Peck’s career trajectory, which began as a child stand-up comedian in New York, has seen him transition into acting, with notable roles in projects like “Mean Creek,” the “Ice Age” franchise, and Nickelodeon’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” He continues to host the “Good Guy’s Podcast” and take on acting gigs, carefully selecting opportunities to prioritize his family.

Overall, Peck’s journey from a young actor navigating the complexities of the entertainment industry to a financially savvy individual serves as a testament to his resilience and determination in building a stable future for himself and his loved ones.
