ABC News announces shake-up at George Stephanopoulos’ ‘This Week’
ABC News Names Jon Schlosberg as Executive Producer of “This Week”
ABC News has appointed Jon Schlosberg, an industry insider, to lead its flagship Sunday show “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.” Schlosberg, who previously served as senior producer of “Prime with Linsey Davis,” ABC News Live’s streaming newscast, will now oversee the top political program.
Starting on May 6, Schlosberg will be based in Washington, DC, working closely with anchor George Stephanopoulos, as well as co-anchors Martha Raddatz and Jonathan Karl.
With a background in launching ABC News Live and extensive experience covering major events like election cycles and international conflicts, Schlosberg brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role.
His impressive track record has earned him industry accolades, including a duPont-Columbia Award, an Emmy, and an Edward R. Murrow Award for his work on ABC’s climate coverage.
Rick Klein, the Washington bureau chief for ABC News, praised Schlosberg’s leadership and journalistic skills, emphasizing his ability to lead “This Week” into a new era.
Despite recent legal challenges, including a defamation suit filed by former President Donald Trump, ABC News remains committed to delivering high-quality journalism under Schlosberg’s guidance.
The settlement of the defamation suit required ABC to make a charitable contribution, pay legal fees, and issue an editor’s note expressing regret over certain statements made on the show.
Through his new role as executive producer of “This Week,” Jon Schlosberg is poised to make a significant impact on the program’s direction and content.
