American killed by Israeli settlers in the West Bank, family says
A tragic incident has shaken the community as a 20-year-old American from Florida, Sayfollah “Saif” Musallet, was allegedly beaten to death by Israeli settlers while visiting his family in the West Bank. The Palestinian Health Ministry in the West Bank confirmed his death, stating that he was killed in the town of Sinjil, north of Ramallah. Another man was also shot dead in the attacks, according to the health ministry.
Musallet was reportedly trying to protect his family’s land from Israeli settlers who surrounded him for over three hours, preventing the ambulance from reaching him. Despite efforts to save him, he tragically passed away before reaching the hospital. This devastating incident marks the fifth American killed in the West Bank since the conflict between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, 2023.
Born in Florida and residing in Tampa, Musallet was known for his hard work and dedication to his business. Described as a kind and ambitious individual with strong ties to his Palestinian heritage, his family expressed deep sorrow over his untimely death. They are demanding justice for Musallet and calling on the U.S. State Department to lead an immediate investigation into the incident.
The Israel Defense Forces acknowledged the reports of the confrontation that led to Musallet’s death and stated that the situation is under investigation by the ISA and Israel Police. They mentioned that Palestinian civilians were injured in the clashes, and Israeli settlers suffered light injuries from rocks thrown at them.
The family of Musallet is devastated by the loss of their beloved son and is seeking accountability for the perpetrators. They are urging the U.S. government to take action and ensure that those responsible for his death are held accountable. The State Department confirmed the death of a U.S. citizen in the West Bank but refrained from providing further details out of respect for the privacy of the family.
This tragic incident highlights the ongoing tensions in the region and the need for a peaceful resolution to prevent further loss of life. The international community is called upon to address the root causes of such conflicts and work towards a lasting peace in the region.
