Armed robber shoots 2 women in the West Loop
Gunman Shoots Two Women in West Loop Armed Robbery
In a shocking incident overnight, a gunman shot two women during an armed robbery in the West Loop, according to police reports. The terrifying ordeal unfolded in the 600 block of West Randolph Street around 12:50 a.m. when the assailant emerged from a white SUV and approached the victims. The man demanded their belongings, seized a purse from one of the women, and then proceeded to open fire, injuring both victims.
One of the women, aged 21, sustained a gunshot wound to the knee and was promptly transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition. The other victim, a 33-year-old woman, was taken to Rush Hospital with a graze wound to her hip, as confirmed by the Chicago Police Department.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described the shooter as a Black male sporting a tan shirt. Following the attack, the perpetrator fled the scene in a white Kia, believed to be a Sorento, with a damaged front windshield. It was reported that there were additional individuals in the vehicle with him at the time of the incident.
It is worth noting that while the CPD stated that the shooting occurred at 12:50 a.m., radio transmissions suggest that it actually took place approximately 10 minutes earlier.
