Astronomer board investigating CEO Andy Byron after Coldplay kiss-cam video

The technology company Astronomer is facing a formal investigation after a video surfaced showing its CEO, Andy Byron, embracing a woman during a Coldplay concert. The board of directors of the New York-based company has taken this matter seriously and has initiated a formal inquiry into the incident.

In a statement posted on social media, Astronomer emphasized its commitment to upholding the values and culture that have guided the company since its inception. The company expects its leaders to uphold high standards of conduct and accountability.

The video, which went viral on social media, captured Byron with his arms around a woman on a jumbo screen during a Coldplay concert in Foxborough, Mass. The woman was later identified by some media outlets as Kristin Cabot, the human resources chief at Astronomer.

Byron has not responded to requests for comment regarding the incident. Astronomer, a privately held company specializing in software for workflow management, has temporarily placed both Byron and Cabot on leave pending the investigation.

The incident occurred when Coldplay frontman Chris Martin called for the “Jumbotron Song,” during which the camera scans the crowd and focuses on individuals as Martin sings a few lines about them. The couple, identified as Byron and Cabot, was seen cuddling and smiling on the screen before reacting awkwardly when they realized they were being shown to the audience.

Kiss-cam alert

Following the incident, both Byron and Cabot’s LinkedIn accounts were deactivated. Axios reported that the executives have been placed on leave, although Astronomer has not confirmed their employment status.

Most concert venues inform attendees that they may be filmed during the event, especially when bands use footage for music videos or concert films. The privacy policy of Gillette Stadium, where the concert took place, states that attendees’ images may be captured through CCTV cameras or filming in public locations.

The situation has garnered attention and scrutiny, with Astronomer pledging to provide further details on the investigation. The company is focused on maintaining its integrity and upholding the standards expected of its leadership team.
