At least 1 person shot after gunman fires into traffic in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Massachusetts State Police reported that a shooting incident took place in Cambridge on Monday afternoon, leaving at least one person wounded. The incident occurred near Memorial Drive and River Street around 1:30 p.m.

According to authorities, emergency responders provided treatment to the injured individual at the scene. Aerial footage from WCVB, ABC News’ Boston affiliate, captured the moment when law enforcement officers apprehended a suspect. However, specific details about the situation were not immediately available.

Footage from WCVB also showed a black Dodge sedan off the road after an apparent crash. Additionally, a rifle was spotted on the grass in the vicinity, as per the report.

Governor Maura Healey assured the public that there is no ongoing threat, but advised residents to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to carry out their duties effectively.

One witness, Lisa Schill, shared her experience with WCVB, mentioning that she was in a school van on her way to pick up children when the shooting occurred. She described the harrowing moment of fleeing the scene on foot, stating, “I was running for my life.”
