‘BAD THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN!’

President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Afghanistan, specifically the Taliban, regarding the control of Bagram Airfield in the country. The former president took to Truth Social to emphasize the demand for the return of the airbase to the United States, stating that “BAD THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN” if it is not handed back.

The threat comes after the Taliban took over Bagram Air Base following the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. Trump did not provide specifics on the consequences the Taliban would face if they do not comply with the demand. However, the message is clear – the US is intent on reclaiming the strategic base.

During a recent public appearance with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump mentioned that efforts were underway to regain control of Bagram Airfield. He highlighted the significance of the base, citing its proximity to China’s nuclear weapons production facilities as a key reason for wanting it back.

Bagram Air Base, located in eastern Afghanistan near the borders of China and Pakistan, played a crucial role in US operations during the War in Afghanistan. The base, once equipped with amenities like Burger King and Pizza Hut, was a symbol of American presence in the region until its abandonment during the chaotic withdrawal under the Biden administration.

Trump’s emphasis on the importance of Bagram Air Base is not new. He previously raised concerns about China’s alleged control over the base, a claim that the Taliban refuted. The group’s spokesperson dismissed Trump’s statements as emotional and unsubstantiated, urging caution in making such assertions.

The demand for the return of Bagram Airfield underscores the strategic significance of the base in the region. As the US continues to assert its interests in Afghanistan, the fate of the airbase remains a point of contention between the former administration and the Taliban. The standoff over Bagram Air Base reflects the complex dynamics at play in the aftermath of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.
