BAFTA North America Postpones Inaugural Awards

BAFTA North America has decided to postpone its inaugural BAFTA Honours event until next fall. Originally scheduled for November 2nd, the awards ceremony will now take place in fall 2026. This decision was made in order to ensure a successful event that properly recognizes individuals in the TV, film, and video game industries.

In a statement to Variety, BAFTA North America expressed their excitement about bringing the BAFTA Honours to Los Angeles next year. The event will honor three distinguished individuals across the fields of Film, TV, and Games. Details such as the date, location, and honorees will be announced in the coming months.

Although no specific reason was given for the postponement, BAFTA North America remains committed to expanding its presence in the U.S. and recognizing the gaming industry alongside film and TV. The organization has been actively engaging with the gaming community through events like Games for Change in New York and Unreal Fest in Orlando. Additionally, a new BAFTA Games North America Committee has been formed to further strengthen these connections.

Despite the delay of the BAFTA Honours, there are several other upcoming events to look forward to. The BAFTA Tea Party will take place on January 10, 2026, in Los Angeles, followed by the EE BAFTA Film Awards in London on February 22nd. The BAFTA Games Awards will be held on April 17th in London, with the BAFTA TV Awards with P&O Cruises following on May 10th. The Spring of 2026 will see the BAFTA Student Awards in Los Angeles, while the BAFTA TV Tea Party and BAFTA New York Tea Party are set for fall 2026. The BAFTA Honours event will close out the year in fall 2026 in Los Angeles.
