Bahamas cops furiously searching for Lynette Hooker as deadline looms

Police in the Bahamas are working tirelessly to locate the body of missing Michigan boater Lynette Hooker, as the deadline looms for charging her husband with a crime. Brian Hooker, 59, was apprehended on the Caribbean island last Wednesday, following his claim that his wife fell overboard while they were returning to their yacht on a small dinghy.

As the clock ticks down to Monday evening, authorities in the Bahamas have until 7:20 p.m. Eastern time to make a decision on whether to charge Brian in connection with Lynette’s disappearance or release him. His lawyer, Terrel Butler, stated that Brian cannot be held beyond this deadline, although it is uncertain when he will appear in court.

Brian is set to undergo further questioning by police on Monday, after being interrogated for over three hours at Grand Bahama’s Central Police Station on Friday. Initially brought in for questioning without being considered a suspect in Lynette’s death, Brian denies any involvement in causing harm or murder to his wife.

A rescue operation to locate Lynette was called off last Tuesday and has since shifted to a recovery mission. Despite the discovery of a flotation device believed to have been thrown to Lynette, her body is still missing as of Monday. Search efforts continue by air, land, and sea, with the Royal Bahamas Defense Force Commander Origin Deleveaux confirming the ongoing operation.

Brian’s stepdaughter, Karli Aylesworth, has raised doubts about his account of the incident, alleging past instances of violence towards Lynette. Aylesworth has expressed skepticism about the circumstances surrounding Lynette’s disappearance, hinting at possible premeditation. Brian, however, maintains his innocence and recounts the night of the incident as a tragic accident caused by stormy weather conditions.

Court records from Michigan reveal that Brian was acquitted of child abuse charges in 2006, while Lynette faced assault and battery charges in 2015. Despite these legal troubles in the past, the focus remains on uncovering the truth behind Lynette’s disappearance and bringing closure to her family and loved ones.
