Brett James died with new wife, her daughter in private plane crash
Grammy Award-winning country music songwriter Brett James tragically lost his life in a plane crash along with his new wife, Melody Wilson, and her daughter, Meryl Maxwell Wilson. The trio was onboard James’ private jet, a Cirrus SR22T, when it crashed in an open field in Franklin, North Carolina.
Melody Wilson, who had recently celebrated her daughter’s 28th birthday, had shared a heartfelt birthday message for Meryl just a day before the accident. She expressed her deep love and admiration for her daughter, calling her the most beautiful and amazing human inside and out. Wilson and James had tied the knot on New Year’s Day in 2022, and she had excitedly shared their wedding photos on social media.
Brett James, known for writing songs for top artists like Taylor Swift and Dierks Bentley, had a successful career in the country music industry. He had released several singles that made it to Billboard’s country chart, including the hit song “Jesus Take The Wheel” by Carrie Underwood. James leaves behind four grown children from his previous marriage to Sandra Cornelius-Little.
