British mom sexually ‘violated’ by parasailing operator while mid-air in Tunisia
A British mother of three had a horrifying experience while parasailing in Africa, as she was sexually assaulted mid-air by the parasail operator. Michelle Wilson, 52, recounted the incident where she was strapped into a harness and the operator pressed himself against her, groping her as they soared through the sky in Sousse, Tunisia.
Wilson described feeling the back of her bikini bottoms being pulled and the strap being tightened by the operator to get her closer. She felt violated as he touched her leg and moved back and forth against her while speaking to her in Arabic. Despite her attempts to push him away, Wilson was left feeling scared and dirty by the assault.
The incident occurred when Wilson was told to go parasailing separately from her friend due to windy conditions. While her friend had a great time with no issues, Wilson was left traumatized by the assault. Upon landing, she immediately reported the incident to local police, who she said have since arrested the perpetrator.
The assault not only ruined her vacation but also left Wilson feeling violated and scared. She spent $8,000 on the trip to Tunisia with her children and is now receiving assistance from British authorities and her insurance company in pursuing justice. EasyJet, the airline with whom Wilson booked the trip, is also investigating the incident.
As a woman traveling in foreign countries, Wilson expected some banter from men but was shocked by the severity of the assault she experienced. She hopes that by speaking out about her ordeal, other women will be more aware of the potential dangers they may face while traveling.
