Buffett reveals he has not talked to Gates ‘since the whole thing’ with Epstein came to light
Warren Buffett mentioned in an interview with CNBC that he has not communicated with Bill Gates since the revelations about Jeffrey Epstein surfaced. The Justice Department released numerous documents related to Epstein’s crimes, leading to a strain in Gates and Buffett’s relationship.
Buffett expressed his reluctance to be involved in the situation, stating, “I don’t want to be in a position where I know things…to be called as a witness.” Despite being longtime friends with Gates, Buffett emphasized the need for clarity before engaging in further discussions.
Following the controversy, Gates faced repercussions such as celebrities severing ties with his Giving Pledge initiative and withdrawing from public appearances. Gates previously apologized for his association with Epstein and acknowledged extramarital affairs, while denying any criminal activity.
Buffett criticized Epstein’s manipulative tactics, stating, “It is astounding to me that anyone could be that successful as a con man.” Epstein tragically died by suicide in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019.
Buffett expressed gratitude that Gates did not introduce him to Epstein, reflecting on the unfortunate events that transpired. Despite the circumstances, Buffett acknowledged the significance of the situation and its impact.
Overall, the aftermath of the Epstein scandal continues to affect various individuals, including high-profile figures like Gates and Buffett.
