Caitlyn Jenner’s Manager Dies in ATV Accident
Sophia Hutchins, Caitlyn Jenner’s Manager, Dies at 29 in ATV Accident
Sophia Hutchins, who became Caitlyn Jenner’s manager after Jenner publicly came out as a transgender woman in 2015, tragically passed away on Wednesday in Malibu, California. The 29-year-old succumbed to injuries sustained in an ATV accident, as confirmed by People magazine.
Hutchins was riding an ATV in Malibu when she collided with another vehicle, causing her to be pushed off the road. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to TMZ.
Hutchins and Jenner first crossed paths through a mutual hair stylist as Jenner was navigating her transition. Hutchins, who had also transitioned in college, quickly became one of Jenner’s closest allies as she re-emerged into the public eye.
As the executive director and CEO of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation, Hutchins worked tirelessly for transgender activism. She also managed Jenner’s public engagements and business affairs, even making appearances on the reality show “I Am Cait,” which documented Jenner’s life post-transition.
In a 2018 interview with Variety, Hutchins emphasized Jenner’s genuine desire to help the transgender community, stating, “Caitlyn is not working on these [activist] issues for press attention. She’s doing it because she genuinely wants to help the community.”
Despite their close bond, rumors of a romantic relationship between Hutchins and Jenner circulated in the tabloids, which both parties vehemently denied. Jenner clarified to Variety, “We are not going to get into that. But we are very close. We do a lot of things together. We’re kind of inseparable. We’re the best of friends.”
Born in Bellevue, Washington on April 1, 1996, Hutchins graduated from Pepperdine University in 2019 with a degree in economics and finance. Alongside her work with Jenner, she also founded the sunscreen company Lumasol.
