‘Call My Agent’ American Adaptation in Development at HBO

HBO is currently developing an American version of the popular French series “Call My Agent,” which is set at a fictional talent agency in Paris. The new American version will take a different approach by setting the story at a sports agency. The show will focus on four sports agents who are dedicated to their work but struggle to balance their professional and personal lives in an industry where being an athlete is just the beginning.

The HBO adaptation of “Call My Agent” will be written and executive produced by Sarah Schneider. The show will be produced by Plan B, a company majority owned by French media conglomerate Mediawan, and Fulwell Entertainment’s SpringHill Studios, co-founded by NBA legend LeBron James. The merger of Fulwell 73 and SpringHill earlier this year will bring together a powerhouse team to bring this new version of the show to life.

The original French series, known as “Dix pour cent,” premiered in 2015 on France 2 and featured a talented cast including Camille Cottin and Thibault de Montalembert. The show gained international popularity when Netflix acquired it and rebranded it as “Call My Agent.” With four seasons already aired and a fifth season and Netflix movie on the horizon, the show has become a global sensation.

“Call My Agent” has also been adapted in various countries including Turkey, India, Germany, the U.K., and Korea, with a Chinese version in development. If the American version goes to series, it will be the third HBO show set in the world of sports representation, following “Ballers” starring Dwayne Johnson and “Arliss” starring Robert Wuhl.

Sarah Schneider, known for co-creating the comedy series “The Other Two,” has an impressive track record in the industry. Her work on “Saturday Night Live” earned her eight Emmy nominations, and she has written for shows like “Master of None” and “The Chair Company.” Schneider is represented by UTA.

The American adaptation of “Call My Agent” promises to bring a fresh perspective to the world of sports agency representation. With a talented team behind the scenes and a captivating storyline, this new version of the show is sure to captivate audiences and continue the legacy of the beloved original series.
