This led to the creation of CrimeOwl, an AI program designed to sift through cold-case files and provide fresh leads for investigators.
Currently, the AI platform is being utilized by a select group of private investigators who are actively pursuing leads on behalf of families seeking closure for missing persons. Ghaemi envisions a future where CrimeOwl plays a pivotal role in cracking a case, possibly shedding light on the mystery surrounding his mother, Shaida Ghaemi, who vanished in 2007.
Recently, Ghaemi, known as “Ash,” met with investigators, IT professionals, and commanders at the Wheat Ridge Police Department to showcase his AI tool and seek an update on his mother’s case.
At present, Wheat Ridge police have reservations about incorporating CrimeOwl into their investigations, including Shaida Ghaemi’s disappearance, citing the platform’s unproven track record.
Despite the lack of progress in his mother’s case, Ghaemi remains determined to unravel the mystery surrounding her vanishing.
Unraveling the Past
Growing up, Arash Ghaemi described his mother as an exceptionally caring figure who became somewhat distant following her divorce when he was 17.
Shaida Ghaemi’s behavior took a sharp turn post-divorce, leading to a period of instability marked by frequent travel and no permanent residence.
Her son recalls her moving into the American Motel in Wheat Ridge with her boyfriend, Jude Peters, in 2007, a decision that left him bewildered by the abrupt changes in her life.
The turning point came when Ghaemi, then a 22-year-old restaurant server, received a call from his grandfather in Maryland, sparking concerns about his mother’s well-being and ultimately leading to her reported disappearance.
Despite the discovery of her blood at the motel and Peters’ account, Wheat Ridge police continue to treat the case as a missing-person scenario, with no concrete evidence of foul play.
