Casey Bloys Says ‘Harry Potter’ Season 2 Is Being Written ‘Now’:
HBO’s Casey Bloys has revealed in an interview with The Times of London that the network is already in the process of developing the second season of the highly anticipated “Harry Potter” TV series. Bloys expressed the importance of minimizing gaps between seasons due to the young cast members growing up. Although the series will not be released annually, the team is currently working on writing the second season.
The HBO series features Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. The ensemble cast also includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall. Other notable actors in the series include Nick Frost, Paul Whitehouse, Luke Thallon, Lox Pratt, Bel Powley, Daniel Rigby, and Katherine Parkinson.
The show is set to be a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s seven novels, with each season following one book from the series. The recently released Season 1 trailer showcased iconic moments from “The Sorcerer’s Stone,” such as Harry receiving his Hogwarts acceptance letter, meeting Ron on the Hogwarts Express, and receiving a Quidditch broomstick. Fans also got glimpses of characters like Dumbledore, Snape, Draco Malfoy, and more.
Filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K., the “Harry Potter” series is led by showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod. The executive producers include J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman.
