Celebrity Deaths of 2026: Robert Carradine and More Stars We Lost This Year

2026 was a year of great loss for Hollywood as the industry mourned the deaths of some of its most legendary stars. The year began with the passing of Broadway performer and influencer Bret Hanna-Shuford at the age of 46. Shortly after, on January 11, famed composer Guy Moon died at the age of 63, followed by the untimely death of Grammy-nominated musician John Forté at 50. The month continued to bring more sorrow as All That alum Kianna Underwood passed away at 33, while Rob Hirst, the drummer and cofounder of Midnight Oil, died at the age of 70. Tragically, Jardyn “Pee Wee” Walker, a contestant on Two Ways With Erica Mena, was fatally shot at the young age of 23.

As January came to a close, the industry said goodbye to celebrity hairstylist Kim Vo, who lost his battle with cancer, and actress Catherine O’Hara, who passed away at 71. In early February, the losses continued with the death of Camilla Carr from Designing Women at 83, and actors James Van Der Beek from Dawson’s Creek and Bud Cort from Harold and Maude, who both passed away on February 11 at the ages of 48 and 77, respectively. The following week brought more heartbreaking news with the announcement of Timothy Very, the drummer of indie band Manchester Orchestra, passing away at 42, and former NFL star Tre’ Johnson’s death at the age of 54. The week also saw the passing of Robert Duvall at 95, Cass Lacelle from Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise at 34, acclaimed songwriter Billy Steinberg at 75, and actor Eric Dane at 53. On February 21, NFL player Rondale Moore’s death at 25 was confirmed by Us Weekly, while former WNBA star Kara Braxton passed away at 43. The month ended with the news of Lizzie McGuire actor Robert Carradine’s death on February 23.
