Crypto millionaire Wen Hou’s dad vanishes as FBI probe case

Federal agents, including the FBI, have joined the search for a missing 74-year-old Southern California man named Naiping Hou. His disappearance is being treated as suspicious after more than $1 million vanished from his accounts. Naiping was reported missing by his family on May 4, 2025.

According to reports, Naiping was last seen during a fishing trip in March of the previous year. His son, Wen Hou, mentioned that Naiping was in good spirits during the trip, catching a lot of fish and enjoying the company of his friends. However, concerns arose when the family started receiving strange text messages from Naiping’s phone, leading them to believe that someone else might be using his phone to communicate.

The situation took a concerning turn when friends visited Naiping’s home and found it empty. The house had been repainted, cleared out, and his vehicles were missing. Authorities discovered fraudulent transactions linked to Naiping’s bank accounts around the time of his disappearance, with more than $1 million being withdrawn to purchase physical gold online.

Investigators suspect that someone may have impersonated Naiping using his phone to drain his finances. The family believes that Naiping may have been abducted, considering the sudden disappearance, financial activity, and attempts to sell his property. While law enforcement has not confirmed a motive, they are actively investigating the case.

Naiping is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, around 170 pounds, with dark hair, dark eyes, and a birthmark on his upper left chest. His family is offering a $250,000 reward for information leading to his whereabouts and is urging anyone with information to come forward as the search for Naiping continues.

The FBI has recently joined the investigation, working alongside the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department to uncover clues and determine the circumstances surrounding Naiping’s disappearance.
